Channels
A channel is a grouping mechanism that allows for more efficient management of advertising campaigns across multiple sites. It is a container of sites that can be targeted with placements, and it is required for an ad to run. By organizing sites into channels, advertisers can better control their ad placements, ensuring that ads are displayed on the right sites to reach their target audience.
In the Surfside platform, a default channel named "All Sites" is created to contain all sites under an account. This channel cannot be edited and serves as a convenient way to manage all sites in one place. However, it is often beneficial to create additional channels to better manage ad placements and target specific groups of sites. For example, an advertiser may create a channel called "Cannabis Dispensaries" to target sites related to cannabis dispensaries.
Channels in Surfside platform support several parameters that allow for customization and efficient management of advertising campaigns. These parameters include:
- Account ID: The ID of the account to which the channel belongs.
- Channel ID: The channel's unique identifier
- Title: The name of the channel, which helps identify it within the platform.
- Ad Types: An array of ad types that the channel supports rendering, which helps ensure that the right ads are displayed on the right sites.
- CPM: The cost per thousand impressions, which helps advertisers control their campaign budgets.
- Status: A parameter indicating whether the channel is active or archived. Archived channels are no longer used for new campaigns, but their data is still accessible for reporting purposes.
Overall, channels are a critical component of Surfside platform's inventory management system. By organizing sites into channels, advertisers can better control their ad placements, improve the efficiency of their campaigns, and target their audience more effectively. The various parameters associated with channels allow for customization and efficient management of campaigns, making them an essential tool for advertisers using the Surfside platform.
